The high-profile Vince McMahon & WWE lawsuit filed by Janel Grant is on pause at the request of the US government which is conducting its own criminal investigation into McMahon.

UPDATE – Deadline reports that the US Department of Justice is investigating WWE and John Laurinatis, as well as McMahon.

We were sent the following statement from Grant’s attorney Ann Callis:

“Ms. Grant has consented to a request by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York to stay her case against Mr. McMahon, WWE and Mr. Laurinaitis, pursuant to a pending non-public investigation. We will cooperate with all appropriate next steps.

Previous reports from the Wall Street Journal and ABC News indicated that Southern District of New York attorneys have been leading a criminal investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against Vince McMahon.

So essentially, at the request of those conducting that criminal investigation, Grant’s lawsuit has been paused.

At this time, it is unknown whether McMahon will be hit with criminal charges.
