Moana and Maui Follow the Call of the Sea in ‘Moana 2’ Trailer


Auli‘i Cravalho and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson star in the animated sequel, out in November

THE OCEAN BECKONS in a new trailer for Moana 2, a sequel to Walt Disney Animation Studios’s 2016 musical adventure Moana. The action-packed clip showcases the return of voice actors Auli‘i Cravalho and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Moana and her demigod pal Maui as Moana embarks on a new journey with her adorable animal sidekicks.

The film, directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller, was initially announced as an animated Disney+ series but was reimagined into a sequel film. The official synopsis notes, “After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.” The film will feature music by Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Opetaia Foaʻi, and Mark Mancina.
